Laboratory Manager - North West
Our client is looking for a laboratory manager to oversee the development of a new microbiology laboratory in the North West of England. The role will consist of managing the installation of new microbiological equipment and overseeing the work of category 2 and category 3 labs, ensuring that risk assesments and COSHH assesments are of a high standard.
Responsibilities Include:
- Installing new analytical and microbiological equipment
- Routine maintenance of equipment
- Compliance with COSHH and producing risk assessments in a category 2 and category 3 lab
- Managing more junior laboratory staff
- General housekeeping and health and safety in the lab
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- 5+ years of experience working in an analytical laboratory or microbiology setting
- A strong understanding of laboratory health and safety compliance, preferably with an understanding of environmental regulations
- A minimum Master's in chemistry, biochemistry or a similar scientific discipline, preferably a PhD
- Experience in managing staff in a lab
- Good people skills
