Currently recruiting for an R&D Scientist for a leading materials manufacturer based in the Cambridgeshire area. As an R&D Scientist you will be responsible for leading and executing various polymer and composites research and development projects involving polymer and composite design, formulation, manufacturing, composite/polymer processing and development. You will also develop technologies and applications until they are at the stage of delivery to market, along with working with internal and global teams to identify new areas of research and development.

To be considered for this R&D Scientist position, you will be degree educated in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science or closely related subject (PhD, MSc preferred). You will also have significant industrial experience and knowledge of composites and polymer development and manufacturing, someone with thermoset composites expertise would be highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and execution of various polymer and composites research and development projects.
  • Polymer and composite design.
  • Polymer and composites processing - working closely with internal teams to provide technical support on any new products.
  • Thermoset and composite formulation.
  • Develop new technologies and applications, delivering these onto market.
  • Working with various internal teams and other global teams to identify new areas of research - keeping up to date with new market trends.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Degree educated in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science or closely related subject (PhD, MSc preferred).
  • Significant industrial experience and knowledge of composites and polymer development.
  • Knowledge of composite/polymer manufacturing.
  • Thermoset composites expertise would be highly desirable.
  • High attention to detail, with a good level of verbal and written communication essential.
