Currently recruiting for a Product Development Engineer for an industry leading materials manufacturer based in Cambridge. As a Product Development Engineer you will work alongside Mechanical, Systems and Electrical Engineers within the Research & Development team, in a very hands on role developing new products. You will work across a range of short-term and long-term development projects looking to improve existing products as well as explore new technologies. In this exciting Product Development Engineer role you will also develop test plans and strategies, and take a hands on approach to the testing of hardware and control systems, perform data analysis, and implement any solutions or improvements found into the products.

To be considered for this Product Development Engineer you will be degree educated in a relevant Engineering subjected (Mechanical preferred), as well as previous industrial experience working as an engineer within product development. You will also have knowledge of system design, fluid mechanics and strong understanding of structures and materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake product development activities, improving existing products and exploring new technologies.
  • Plan and deliver short-term and long-term new product development projects.
  • Develop test plans and strategies.
  • Hands-on testing of hardware and control systems.
  • Perform data analysis to identify and implement any product improvements.
  • Use Python and LabView to assist in the coding or design systems.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Degree educated in Engineering (Mechanical Engineer preferred)
  • Previous industrial experience as an Engineer within a product development team.
  • Knowledge of system design
  • Strong understanding of structures/materials.
  • A good level of understanding of fluid mechanics.
  • High attention to detail, with a good level of verbal and written communication essential.
