We are currently recruiting for a Technologist (Polymer Engineering) to join a global materials manufacturer at their state-of-the-art site based in Lancashire. As a Technologist, you will be responsible for delivering R&D objectives and supporting scale-up of various polymer manufactured products and protypes. You will also work on the development of engineered polymers and films, as well as optimising and improving existing products and processes. Working within the R&D and design team, you will also be responsible for technical feasibility assessments, and the evaluation and characterisation of high performance polymers.

To be considered for this Technologist (Polymer Engineering) position, you will be degree educated in Polymer Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Chemistry with some further industrial experience within a polymer laboratory, skilled in polymer processing and various physical, mechanical and thermal testing techniques. You will have a strong analytical background ideally with some previous statistical and data analysis experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan an deliver various R&D polymer projects.
  • Support scale-up and various prototyping activities.
  • Delivery of various high-performance polymer and film products.
  • Optimise and improve existing products and processes.
  • Conduct technical feasibility assessments.
  • Evaluate and characterise various engineered polymers and films.

Knowledge and Experience

  • At least BSc/BEng educated in Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or closely related subject
  • Previous industrial experience of polymer processing and polymer characterisation.
  • Strong analytical background ideally with some previous statistical and data analysis experience.
  • Skilled in polymer analysis via thermal, mechanical and physical testing techniques.
