We are recruiting on behalf of a leading speciality chemicals and advanced materials manufacturer, for a Materials Testing Technician to join their site based in Cheshire. As a Materials Testing Technician, you will carry out physical and thermal analysis testing of polymer materials to support new product development.
To be considered for this role, you will have a degree in Materials Science or related field, with experience in a commercial testing service laboratory. This is an excellent opportunity to develop and grow yourself within an innovative business, with state-of-the art facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyse polymer test samples in a timely fashion, ensuring all health and safety standards are met
- Use a wide range of materials testing equipment, including DSC, DMA and tensile testing machines
- Maintain and initiate repairs of laboratory equipment according to maintenance standards
- Document use of relevant chemicals to comply with regulations on waste management
Qualifications and Experience:
- A BSc in Materials Science, Polymer Science or related field is preferred, however 3 years' experience in a materials testing role will also be considered
- Experience within a materials testing laboratory would be advantageous
- Any knowledge of polymers including plastics, polyurethanes and rubbers would be advantageous
