Role: Laboratory Technician (08:00 - 16:30 and10:00 - 18:30 rotating shifts)

Salary: £12 / hour

Science Solutions Recruitment has a fantastic opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our client's leading pure sugars laboratory. You will be facilitating the laboratory as a Laboratory Technician with the control of syrup, carrying out Laboratory associated testing - Brix, pH, colour, and polarisation and monitoring the inversion and neutralisation of syrups in vat Laboratory. This excellent Laboratory Technician role is based within the Lab, you will have laboratory experience and an excellent attention to detail.

Role:

The role will include;

  • Control of syrup Laboratory
  • The role will involve some manual handling.
  • Calibration of lab test equipment
  • Use of Hydrochloric and Sulphuric acid
  • Use of Sodium Carbonate and Sodium Hydroxide
  • Controlling the inversion and neutralisation of syrups in vat Laboratory.
  • Carry out Laboratory related testing - Brix, pH, colour, and polarisation.
  • Implementation of a positive release Laboratory system for all products including blended and sieved sugars
  • Completion of Laboratory related documentation.
  • Contribute to safety objectives relating to the laboratory and Laboratory areas.
  • Follow H&S practice in your area of work.
  • Ensure all HACCP procedures are followed to and documentation is filled in appropriately.
  • Guarantee that all Laboratory documentation is accurate for use before any filling of product takes place.
  • Implement a companywide clean as you go policy

Person (Beneficial but not essential)

  • Production line/or manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to partake in manual handling duties
  • PH Meter usage
  • Refractometer
  • Spectrophotometer and Colourimeter
  • Acid Base Neutralisation
  • Understanding of Invert / Inversion Process
  • Polarimeter / Pol testing
  • Equipment Calibration
  • Sample collection / Preparation / Storage
  • Liaising with External Laboratory for results and trending
