Role: Junior Development Chemist - Chemistry Degree 1 year industry

Location: North Oxford

Salary: £20,000 - £25,000

Our client a leading manufacturer of Household / Hygiene / biocides Products are looking for a Chemist to join their Research & Development Team based near Oxford. You will have one year industry experience and completed your degree within Chemistry. This is an excellent opportunity that offers career progression, full training and you will work with some top leaders the Household / Hygiene has to offer.

Role:

  • Conduct formula prototyping and evaluation, including product stability trials and performance assessment.
  • Assist Senior Development Chemist to generate new and innovative performance test methods.
  • Assist Senior Development Chemist in commissioning biocidal efficacy and cosmetic preservative efficacy tests etc, manage communication with third-party labs and ensure correct recording and filing of results and reports etc.
  • Prepare samples and organise field trials with the service engineers and sales team.
  • Survey competitor products on the market and recording results to ensure our products can compete on performance and price.
  • Liaise with suppliers to discuss new and existing material needs.
  • Assist Senior Development Chemist in evaluating new raw materials and alternative sources of existing raw materials.
  • Support the lab and production teams monitor batch failures and undertake appropriate specification, formulation and MoM changes to minimise future batch failures.
  • Support the QA team with decisions concerning Quarantined stock.
  • Support the lab team in day-to-day operations, for example: product testing, cosmetic swabbing.

Person:

  • 1 year industry experience
  • Chemistry Degree
  • Knowledge of Formulation & Development
  • Good attention to detail and well organised
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Good IT skills - Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Ambitious and drive to succeed
