My client is a world leader in organic thin-film transistors (OTFT), organic semiconductors and flexible electronics and are seeking a formulation development scientist to join their growing business. As a formulation development scientist, you'll work to develop new formulations and materials within the field of plastic electronics. With an intuition for organic chemistry, you'll work with chemical suppliers to ensure you have the material required to develop new formulations to meet customer demands. This is an exciting role with room to grow and develop as a formulator, so having curiosity and a passion for learning will be important. The role may also involve travel across the UK and potentially the globe to meet suppliers and customers.

The role involves;

  • Developing new materials and formulations
  • Review projects and develop novel approaches
  • Provide input on materials and equipment required
  • Design optimised formulation/processes for repeatable products
  • Engage with customers to discuss requirements and provide routes to products
  • Ensure manufacture of lab batches can be transferred to commercial production
  • Analyse formulations and characterise products
  • Deliver scientific reports to customers and internal stakeholders

Requirements;

  • A PhD in Chemistry or related subject with an emphasis on polymer formulation
  • A strong instinct for organic chemistry
  • A background in OTFT, Organic Semiconductors is desirable
  • Experience in thin film depositions and characterisation
  • A "can-do" work ethic and ability to work as part of a team

If you're a PhD polymer formulation scientist and are looking for an exciting development role in the Cambridge area, then please apply now!
