Science Solutions Recruitment has a fantastic opportunity for an Equipment Specialist to join a long standing, growing business. You will provide technical support to colleagues for laboratory equipment. This excellent Equipment Specialist is based in the laboratory and you will have experience evaluating and initiating new equipment into the laboratories. You will be experienced designing validation procedures, writing reports and SOPs. As the Equipment Specialist you will be experienced with equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and calibrating equipment. You will also be familiar with LC-MS GC-MS and HPLC.

Main duties

  • Be the first point of contact for equipment operators experiencing difficulties
  • Guarantee equipment issues are rectified quickly, communicating with external engineers, and arranging site visits.
  • Manage equipment records in LabHQ to confirm all equipment is within calibration and maintenance performed when scheduled, distributing equipment off-site or arranging and managing onsite appointments from external contractors
  • Monitor temperature records of laboratories and storage units via the Hanwell Ice Spy temperature monitoring system, taking appropriate action as required
  • Introduce new pieces of equipment into the laboratories following change control and validation measures
  • Carry out software validation for equipment controlling software as part of equipment IQ/OQ
  • Administrator or deputy for equipment associated software
  • Train operators in the use of equipment
  • Review and approval of equipment associated documents including documents from external contractors
  • Follow up equipment related audits performed by the Quality department
  • Generate validation plans fully justifying the approach and extent of validation
  • Write, execute, and review URS, IQ/OQ/PQ, and validation reports
  • Accomplish all tasks to the standards required by appropriate guidelines, ie GLP/GMP/ISO standards

Person Profile

  • Graduate of Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry or related subject
  • Experience in writing and reviewing validation plans, reports, operating procedures, and other technical documents
  • Able to follow analytical method validation best practices
  • Experienced in equipment change control procedures and performing risk assessments
  • Experienced in performing root cause analysis for method investigations
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Working familiarity of laboratory instruments and operating systems
