Science Solutions are pleased to be working with an ambitious Cosmetics & Personal Care organisation, based in East Sussex, who are growing year on year. As such, they are now seeking a Development Chemist to join their team.

This purpose of this role is to assist in the design, development and preparation of new product formulations ensuring compliance with both regulatory and customer requirements at all times. Also, to assist the Head of Technical in keeping the company at the forefront in terms of raw material innovation and process developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the formulation of cosmetic products such as creams, lotions, shampoos, conditioners, shower gels, body scrubs, and fragrances for a wide variety of customers.
  • Provide technical manufacturing instructions for the scale-up of developed products that are within the capabilities of the manufacturing and filling equipment available within the company.
  • Responsible for providing technical support to the production area during both trials and regular production runs.
  • Receive and 'book in' all laboratory raw material samples for Personal Care projects and allocate stock codes to these new items in accordance with the company coding scheme.
  • Assist the Head of Technical in the overall testing programme within the department to ensure that agreed timetables are adhered to and effective communications are maintained at all times.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience within a laboratory or production environment
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
